How the Good Times have Rolled

A father is someone you look up to no matter how tall you grow.  Even though you cringe at his fashion sense, roll your eyes when he talks about the days before internet or attempts to cover your ears when he doses off during the second lap around the F1 race track you know that he is synonymous with protection, leadership and love.

With Father’s Day around the corner, have you thought about the good times with Dad?  He taught you how to swim, how to ride a bike and guided you through your first attempt at driving a car – with his hand fairly close to the handbrake, just in case.  Even though you didn’t understand his tough love attitude during your forming years you probably later came to realise how important those life lessons were.

From afternoons around the braai where he showed you the importance of braaing the perfect steak to teaching you about opening doors and being the ultimate gentleman, or gentlewoman – his influence will have lasting effects on your life.

Turn back the hands of time this Father’s Day and spoil Dad with a special gift.  Leave the socks and soap on a rope for Christmas, whether you want to recreate one of your favourite times with him or cover him with a blanket when he doses off during a television show, show him how much you care.

Time is free but priceless, you cannot own it, but you can use it, you cannot keep it but you can spend it.  Choose to spend it with Dad this Father’s Day.  Let’s face it, he has given you the best advice you have ever received – don’t tell Mom!

Write us a letter on our Facebook page telling us why your dad is the best and about the memorable times he has spent with you.

We will pick the best letter on 17 June and the winner’s dad will win an unforgettable trip in a Ferrari around Kyalami racetrack on 8 December 2018. Remember to get your family and loved ones to like your letter post!
