TAG HEUER HONOURS THE NATIONAL RUGBY TEAM WITH THE SPRINGBOK LIMITED EDITION AQUARACER
Just in time for the Rugby World Cup 2019, the avant-garde Swiss watchmaker introduces a new piece dedicated to the South African rugby team, combining advanced watchmaking technology with a longstanding commitment to rugby.
In our evolving digital age, the tradition of looking at your wrist for the time instead of reaching into your pocket for your phone to view it has decreased significantly, but there is still a growing market when it comes to watch collecting as a hobby. In a time of fast foods, fast cars, and hectic social lifestyles, we tend to look at our clocks more often to make sure we do not miss anything. Wristwatches and luxury timepieces have become more of a status symbol. And when referring to symbols, what better one to define our country than the Springbok. The Springbok icon, the sport of rugby that it represents and watch collecting all also have something else in common: passion and a sense of pride.
Since the creation of the Aquaracer collection in 2003, it has continued to evolve, becoming a sports watch beloved by men and women alike. Also cherished by TAG Heuer, this highly technical sub-aquatic collection is synonymous with reliability, freedom and surpassing oneself. It then makes perfect sense that the iconic watchmaker would honour another icon: the Springboks!
This specific limited edition is great for rugby enthusiasts and for devoted watch collectors. It displays the iconic codes of the Aquaracer collection and is also equipped with a quartz movement and water-resistant to 30 meters. It showcases the first-ever green aluminium bezel, with gold-plated hour and minute hands, as well as indices.
Featuring the prominent green and gold on the dial, this limited edition Aquaracer has the official Springboks logo at six o’clock, while the back casing is engraved with a Springbok and the logo. With only 200 in the world, it will become a collector’s piece.
Some iconic Springbok players and friends of the brand have already set their sites on specific numbers, with captain Siya Kolisi wearing no.6, Blitzboks captain Philip Snyman no.7, Jesse Kriel no.13, Malcolm Marx no.3, Warren Whitely no.8 and Tendai ‘Beast’ Mtawarira no.100.
